Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 'suspicious incident' at a busy Stoke-on-Trent park.

Officers were called to Burslem Park at around 6pm tonight (June 5) after reports a man had approached a child in a park and attempted to take a scooter.

They tonight confirmed they are hunting for possible suspects.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We received the call to Burslem Park shortly before 6pm tonight.

"It is being treated as a suspicious incident. No one was injured and it seems someone tried to take a young boy's scooter off him.

"Police officers are dealing with the incident and have spoken to the boy and his father.

"We're appealing for anyone who witnessed a suspicious incident to come forward."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident VDU 587 of June 5. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
