Police have released a statement after a Stoke-on-Trent street was blocked off earlier this morning.

Officers were called to Madeley Street, Tunstall, shortly after midnight today following reports of a disturbance.

Following their arrival, two Stoke-on-Trent men, both 24, were taken into custody on suspicion of causing criminal damage and the pair continue to be quizzed by detectives.

An investigation into the disturbance has been launched and inquiries in the street continue.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Madeley Street in Stoke-on-Trent shortly after 12.30am this morning (May 21) to reports of a disturbance.

"Two 24-year-old men from Stoke have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remain in police custody. Local inquiries are being carried out."
