Police have named a man who was found dead at a Stoke-on-Trent house.

Emergency services were called to the property on Merrick Street in Northwood, following concerns for a man’s wellbeing.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

Now he has been formally identified as 32-year-old Matthew Jones from Stoke-on-Trent.

Ambulance crews and police were first sent to the house between Town Road and Keelings Road at 4pm on Sunday, December 9.

A number of police vehicles including a forensics van attended, along with two ambulances and a first response vehicle.

However, Staffordshire Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman said: “The man has been formally identified as Mathew Jones, aged 32, from Stoke-on-Trent.

"His death is not believed to be suspicious and has been passed onto the coroner."
