Police have spoken to the parents of four girls who threw eggs at a number of houses on the same street.

The children - who are aged 12, 13, 13 and 14 - were given a dressing down before being ordered to clean up the mess.

The vandalism was reported in Pinnox Street, Tunstall, at 2pm on Saturday.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of eggs being thrown at an address on Pinnox Street. Four teenage girls were spoken to by a local PCSO and cleaned up the mess. Their parents were also made aware."

PCSO Nick Warrilow investigated the incidents and later visited the homes of the four children.

He said: "I had a call from a resident who reported a group of teenagers who had thrown eggs at her house and other houses. I located the offenders, got all the details and took them to clean up the mess and apologise.

"Three of the parents were very supportive. But one said 'you're never here over an egg'. When I pointed out that it is criminal damage she said 'no it's not, it's only a piece of fruit'. I advised and left."

Anyone else whose home was egged should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 402 of February 16.
