A 42-year-old man accused of murdering a North Staffordshire grandmother has had his case adjourned.

Kenneth McDermid - who has extradited from Sweden under a European Arrest Warrant - was not present at yesterday’s hearing at Stafford Crown Court.

He is alleged to have murdered 71-year-old Wendy Morse whose body was found at her home on Tunstall Road, Knypersley, in March. She had earlier been reported missing by concerned relatives.

McDermid, of Rosemary Place, Sneyd Green, has yet to enter a plea to the charge. He had appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre earlier this week.

The matter has now been adjourned for a plea and trial preparation hearing on August 3.
