Stoke City players reported for training this morning as Championship clubs took a step towards resuming their season

Stoke City players were in back in training today at Clayton Wood after months of lockdown and social distancing due to coronavirus - their arrival was staggered throughout the morning to limit the amount of players on the field at once Pictured arriving is Ryan Shawcross

Stoke City's players were back at the training ground this morning as Championship clubs took a step towards re-starting their season.

The players have been away for 73 days but, like other clubs in the second tier, were able to recall their players from today.

The return to training has been an organisational challenge for the club to ensure their squad can train safely in small groups. Players have been tested - and were tested again on their arrival today. The training ground has also been split into sections to help with distancing so the club can comply with coronavirus guidelines.

Football in the Premier League and EFL was suspended on March 13 because of the coronavirus crisis. League Two clubs have voted to scrap their remaining fixtures. League One has still to decide but the Premier League and Championship could play on with games behind closed doors.
