One of the goalkeepers thrown into the ring for Stoke's search for a new number one admits his future remains uncertain.

Christian Walton has spent the last two seasons on loan to Wigan in League One and then the Championship.

But the 23 year-old goalkeeper remains contracted to Brighton and they are in the midst of trying to replace sacked boss Chris Hughton.

Walton, who played 34 of Wigan's 46 league games, has been quizzed about his future and says: "That’s the question I’ve been getting from everyone!

“It’s just a case of seeing over the summer what happens at Brighton first of all.

“I’m due to report back there for pre-season and we’ll take it from there.

"...having been here here for two years I’m settled at the club. I feel at home, it feels like I’ve been here for years.”

Walton played in Wigan's stunning 3-0 win at Stoke in August, but was on the bench for the 0-0 return in February.

Stoke have also been linked to the likes of Barnsley free agent Adam Davies as they continue to line up a replacement ahead of Jack Butland's probable return to the Premier League.
