Corry Evans wants Michael O'Neill to be in charge of Northern Ireland at Euro 2020 if they qualify for the tournament.

O'Neill has already committed to leading Northern Ireland into the qualifying play-offs in March, despite being appointed as Stoke City manager.

And Evans hopes his reign as national boss is extended into next summer if Northern Ireland reach the finals of the European Championships.

“He’s been magnificent for us and has taken us from where we were eight years ago to what we are doing now," he told The Irish News.

“We are in contention all the time to qualify and he’s been a huge help in our international careers.

“He has helped make dreams come true by reaching major tournaments and even like against Holland, we are in games against big nations and we compete against them.

“A lot of that is down to Michael.”
