Fashion giant Superdry is heading to North Staffordshire.

The retailer is preparing to open up at Hanley's intu Potteries after agreeing a deal for a unit at the popular shopping centre.

And bosses at the facility say they are expecting Superdry's arrival to be warmly welcomed by shoppers.

The global brand, which is taking a unit between River Island and Top Shop, currently has stores in 46 countries. It boasts 139 owned stores across the UK and Europe, as well as 208 franchised and licensed stores, and 168 concessions.

Rachael Jackson, general manager of intu Potteries, said: “This is the news that many people from Staffordshire and South Cheshire have been waiting for. We’ve been so excited to announce that Superdry is coming to intu Potteries!

“We cannot wait for the store to open its doors and know it will be extremely popular with customers, whether they’re among the many dedicated Superdry fans, or newcomers to the brand looking to discover what the fuss is about. We know you’ll all love it!”.

The new shop will showcase the firm's wide range of fashion including its newer lifestyle categories such as sport and snow.

Melanie Rex, operations director of Superdry said: "We are looking forward to joining the intu Potteries in Stoke on Trent and hoping to attract even more people from the surrounding areas."

An opening date has yet to be confirmed. Currently the nearest Superdry stores to the Potteries are branches in Derby's intu centre along with Manchester city centre, the Trafford Centre and Cheshire Oaks.
