Bosses are gearing up for the opening of Stoke-on-Trent's £1.2 million indoor karting facility.

Work on turning the former Latifs superstore, in Waterloo Road, Burslem , into a race track with long straights, hair-raising bends, jaw-dropping ramps and even a multi-level circuit is nearing completition.

TeamSport - which has 32 other centres across the UK - will welcome its first petrol heads in time for the Bank Holiday weekend on May 25.

And it will be offering discounts on special dates throughout next month.

Dominic Gaynor, managing director of TeamSport Karting, said: “We’re very excited to be opening in Burslem, the support from the local community so far has been great,  and our new crew are looking forward to welcoming customers.

“Whether you’re looking for an action-packed family day out where adults and kids can safely kart together, a head-to-head challenge against friends or a great team-building event we have something for everyone.

“Many people know what indoor karting is, but have never given it a go for various reasons.  We’re sure that once someone has experienced the fun of karting at one of our centres they’ll love it and want to come back.

"To support this we run offers such as half price mid-week karting, discounts for students and our exclusive Grid membership which provides discounts.

"To coincide with our Burslem opening we’re offering a special rate of £25 per person on selected events until the end of June.”

Up to 14 people will be able to compete at any one time in karts with a top speed of 40mph.

The venue also has its own fully-licensed 'Fuel Bar' where races and spectators can enjoy a meal including stoke-baked pizzas.

There is also a party room for children aged eight to 12 celebrating their birthday.

A total of 25 full and part-time jobs have been created.
