Forest Green midfielder Carl Winchester believes the team should be 'comfortably winning' more games than they are.

Rovers suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Morecambe despite dominated after their 0-0 draw with Oxford where they created the better chances.

Winchester feels the team need to be more clinical and was disappointed with one of his own chances. He's in no doubt about the quality of the squad and is relishing the opportunity to put things right in tonight's FA Cup replay against Oxford.

"We need to be win those games comfortably when we have that much possession," he said. "I was disappointed with my chance on Saturday, I should have hit the target and worked the keeper from there.

"George Williams had one cleared off the line it wasn’t our day but we need to start producing a lot more, we’re a good enough squad and I believe with the players we have we should be winning those games comfortably and we can be right up there.

"We can put things right against Oxford, it will be a tough test against a good League One team and we can’t let the weekend affect us."

Winchester is keen to progress in the cup and felt Rovers should have won at the Kassam Stadium 10 days ago but is expecting another difficult game from the League One side and is wary of their threats.

"Oxford have players that can hurt us, especially in the forward area," he commented.

"We did well at their place and thought we should have won the game, we had two or three chances and we need to be a lot more clinical but it’ll be another tough test, they’ll want to go through as it’s a big tournament for everyone.

“It’s good to have another game and to try get that winning feeling back. They’re not taking us lightly and we’re not taking them lightly, so it should be another good game and one we’re looking forward to.”

The Northern Irishman has been filling in at right-back in Liam Shephard's absence and has looked comfortable in the role but it's one he's played in often enough and is happy to help the team out.

“I played about 15 games there for Cheltenham last season and done well there but as long as I’m playing and doing a job for the team that’s the main thing so I don’t mind where I play," added Winchester.
