Australian-inspired Outback Steakhouse plans a restaurant in Shoppes at Deerfield, on Powerline Road and West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach, a real estate firm announced Wednesday. The restaurant expects to open in the summer of 2020, according to a news release.

Houston-based Weingarten Realty said Outback Steakhouse is leasing 6,997 square feet at the shopping plaza, which also has a Publix Supermarket, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Cinepolis movie theater.

In South Florida, Outback Steakhouse currently has locations in Jupiter, Lake Worth, Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Plantation, Pembroke Pines, Dania Beach, Davie, Sunny Isles, Miami Lakes and Kendall.

Outback Steakhouse is owned by Bloomin’ Brands, which has about 1,500 restaurants across 48 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and 19 countries. Outback Steakhouse opened its first location in Tampa in 1988.

The restaurant’s menu includes its famous Bloomin’ Onion, as well as steaks, chicken, ribs and seafood.
