A 35-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman was killed when the car she was driving hit a utility pole in Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Bianca Aurich was driving in the 5600 block of North Andrews Avenue about 12:40 a.m. Friday when she lost control of the white BMW, investigators said.

The car spun around and the driver’s side struck a wooden utility pole. Aurich was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She had a passenger in the car, but she sustained minor injuries, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
