EAST Stirlingshire FC have announced that they are to groundshare with Falkirk next season.
The Shire, who left their Firs Park home in 2008 for Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview, will make use of a number of the stadium facilities both for training and on matchdays.
The club, currently in the Lowland League, hope that the new partnership will aid their return to the SPFL.
Alan Archibald, Chairman of East Stirlingshire, said: “This is an important step forward for East Stirlingshire and one that shows how serious the club are at not only just surviving but building a stable and prosperous future for the club.
“We have been delighted with the talks with Falkirk FC and the opportunities that have been discussed and explored that undoubtedly will help both clubs and the wider local community”.
The Shire’s 61-year tenure in the Scottish national league set-up ended in 2016 after losing a play-off to Edinburgh City.
A club statement said: “East Stirlingshire would like to thank both Stenhousemuir FC who have been our landlords since our departure from Firs Park and also LK Galaxy at Little Kerse where the club have been based recently, both have supported the Shire in many ways for a number of years.
“Everyone involved at the Shire are looking forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring and ultimately seeing the Shire return to the SPFL.”
