Man wanted for Vermont killing may have traveled in Upstate New York

South Burlington, Vt. — A man wanted in connection with the killing of a Vermont woman may have traveled through Upstate New York.

The U.S. Marshals Service is looking for Leroy Headley after he allegedly murdered his longtime partner in Vermont. The woman was the mother of his two children.

The victim was found shot to death in May in the residence she shared with Headley in South Burlington, Vermont.

Headley is also wanted for sexual assault on a minor and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, marshals said.

Authorities said Headley may have traveled through Upstate New York after the murder, according to WBNG in Binghamton. He is originally from Jamaica and has ties there, elsewhere in the U.S. and in Canada.

Officials have not said what part of Upstate New York Headley may have traveled in, according to WNBF in Binghamton.

Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Headley should contact law enforcement immediately.

It's possible Headley is living under an assumed name. He also may have shaved his head or changed his appearance in some other way, marshals said.

A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his arrest, WNBF said.

Anyone with information can contact the marshals at 1-877-926-8332 or by email at usms.wanted@usdoj.gov.
