The Mets will roll out a significantly different lineup from when the Braves saw them early last week. An injury to Jeff McNeil is the big development, as the hope for the Mets is that he will be back some time soon. For the Braves, the focus is limiting the middle of the Mets order, especially with Mike Foltynewicz’s home run issues this year. J.D. Davis, a platoon player to begin the season, has been a revelation for the Mets in the second half of the season with a 1.011 OPS in 108 plate appearances. Foltynewicz simply cannot afford to surrender the “one big inning” tonight, and that means limiting Pete Alonso, Michael Conforto, and Davis.

5. RF Matt Joyce (L)

The same could be said for the Braves. Injuries have resulted in a less talented lower half of Atlanta’s order. Alex Jackson returns to the big leagues for the first time since his cup of coffee in April. The lineup after Donaldson does not inspire a ton of confidence against Jacob deGrom. Therefore, they must be focused on going after a pitch they like no matter how early they get it. If the bottom of the order can string together a few hits, it could lead to good things for Atlanta.
