Tallahassee man facing gun, drug charges in Franklin stop

A Tallahassee man is facing gun and drug charges after he was pulled over in Franklin County Sunday afternoon.

Jimmy Quintero, 24, was stopped at about 4:30 p.m. following too closely behind another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 98 and Highway 319 just south of Sopchoppy.

Jimmy Quintero was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and following too closely.

Quintero told a Florida Highway Patrol trooper he didn’t have a driver’s license and was asked to get out of his 2012 Honda Accord.

Troopers and a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy searched the vehicle and found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol lying on the floor under a towel, almost 3 ounces of an unknown plant, 2 grams of marijuana, 8 grams of a powdery white substance, a digital scale and a box of ammunition.

Quintero was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and following too closely.
