Tallahassee man charged with rape of girl

A man who twice skirted Department of Children and Families sexual abuse investigations is now facing criminal charges of sexual assault with a minor.

Jason Bembry, 38, faces charges of capital sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery in connection with what investigators say was the repeated rape a 14-year-old girl. He is being held without bail in the Leon County Detention Facility. 

She reported to Tallahassee Police investigators that Bembry began sexually assaulting her when she was in fifth grade.

She said on multiple occasions Bembry raped her after contacting her on social media. He also threatened to blackmail the girl by telling her mother about the social media posts.

Bembry was accused in two different cases, in Dade and Broward counties, of having sex with minors in 2010. The claims that Bembry was having sex with a 9 year-old and had been having sex with another minor since age 12 were unsubstantiated.
