Dynamic Discs draws top talent from disc golf world to 2019 Open at Tallahassee

For the next two weekends, Tallahassee will play host to some of disc golf’s top talent as they compete in the 2019 Open at Tallahassee, sponsored by Dynamic Discs.

The multi-weekend tournament will be held on the city’s courses in Tom Brown Park and Jack McLean Park. The public is invited to watch.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Pro and Advanced Amateur divisions for both women and men will compete at Tom Brown Park. Tee times begin each day at 8 a.m. at Hole 1, located near the Rotary Centennial Playground.

On Friday, there will be two Round One feature cards teeing off between 1 and 2 p.m. The feature card, teeing off at 1:40 p.m., features Paul McBeth, the current No. 1 ranked player in the world; Matt Orum, the current No. 3 ranked player in the world and the Open’s two-time defending champion; Calvin Heimburg, the hottest new star on tour; and Johne McCray, a Masters World Champion and past multiple winner of the Open. The chase card, teeing off at 1:30 p.m., includes disc golf notables such as Zach Melton, Cameron Colglazier, Charlie Goodpasture and Tim Barham.

Tallahassee is hosting a disc golf tournament.

As with regular ball golf, cards for the next two days of play will be determined by the scores, with the top four players from the first day making the Lead Card for the second day and so on.

The following weekend, April 13-14, the amateur division steps onto the course. They will play two rounds on April 13, at Tom Brown Park, and one round on April 14, at Jack McLean Park.

The 2019 Open at Tallahassee is free for spectators to attend. Viewers can set up galleries at a specific hole to see all the players as they compete or can choose to follow a specific card through the course.

The tournament is a Professional Disc Golf Association Tier “A” event this weekend and a Tier “B” event next weekend.
