City appoints new auditor

Dennis Sutton was appointed as the city of Tallahassee’s new auditor at Wednesday’s City Commission meeting.

Sutton who most recently worked as the city's audit manager, has worked with the city since 1999. He was interviewed by commissioners and staff and selected last week.

He worked with several accounting firms in the private sector before coming to work at the city. He is a U.S. Army veteran with a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in accounting.  

He was certified as a public accountant in 1994 and as an internal auditor a decade later.

Sutton will begin work July 22.
