In the span of two minutes, the Tallahassee Police Department confirmed two homicides in two days.

In back-to-back news releases Friday afternoon, TPD said bodies discovered on Oxford Road on Wednesday and at Oakland Cemetery on Thursday were being investigated as homicides.

The person found on Oxford Road was bleeding profusely and later died from a gunshot wound. The Oakland Cemetery was officially ruled a homicide, but TPD did not specify how the victim died.

A spokesman said the two violent deaths were not related.

TPD provided no other details, including the name, age or gender of the victims. The agency provides few details about active investigations and does not release any information about victims, pointing to its interpretation of Marsy's Law.

According to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence in 2019, the Oxford Road fatal shooting is one of three this week and the 45th shooting this year in the capital city. The victim is the 10th fatality this year.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about either case to call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
