Tallahassee firefighters tackle Old Bainbridge Road apartment blaze

Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from a second story apartment.

No one was injured Monday morning in a fire that blazed through an Old Bainbridge Road apartment, according to a news release.

The Tallahassee Fire Department was alerted to the fire at 2660 Old Bainbridge Road just before 11:30 a.m., Lt. Jonathan Kimbrel said. 

"Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from a second story apartment," he said. The blaze was quickly put out and crews determined no one was inside.

The fire, which was contained to the one unit, resulted in an estimated $35,000 in damages and the cause is currently under investigation, Kimbrel added. 

The American Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
