VidaCann, a Jacksonville-based medical marijuana nursery, is entering the Tallahassee market with a new Midtown store.

The 1,800 square-foot dispensary is located at 1212 N. Monroe St., next door to Bruegger's Bagels. Plans are underway to open Thursday, according to a company spokeswoman, who encouraged residents to follow @vidacannfl on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn for updates and discount specials tied to the store's opening.

The Tallahassee store is the nursery's eighth location, adding to dispensaries in Daytona Beach, Bradenton, Palm Bay, Orlando and Tampa.

“VidaCann has over 30 premium strains available in a variety of products including flower cups, tinctures, capsules, vapes and concentrate syringes. We are also planning to have smokable flower as soon as possible at all stores across the state,” said Peyton Moseley, VidaCann's vice president of product development, in a statement to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Smokeable marijuana at VidaCann may be available as soon as Friday, officials said. Trulieve, a Tallahassee-based medical marijuana provider that was first to open a dispensary in the state, became the first provider to sell smokable medical marijuana in Florida last week.

VidaCann medical marijuana dispensary has opened in Palm Bay off of Malabar Road. It is the second marijuana dispensary to open in the county. They are having an open house Saturday.

Moseley said VidaCann is the "exclusive provider in the state of Florida of Stanley Brothers products with Charlotte’s Web inside, available now, and of world-renowned Tikun Olam products, coming soon.”

VidaCann's Tallahassee location will have 12 employees. It's the latest company to be attracted to Midtown, a medical marijuana hot spot with the highest concentrated numbers of medical marijuana sites in Tallahassee.

VidaCann is the third medical marijuana provider in the Midtown area. Last year, Curaleaf Tallahassee opened where Badass Fitness operated on Thomasville Road. In 2017, KNOX Cannabis near Thomaville and Glenview Drive opened its doors.

In addition, MedMen, a leading medical marijuana provider with franchise locations nationwide, may be interested in property located at 1126 Thomasville Road, owned by the EMO Family Trust.

A property and construction firm contacted the city last year to request information about what commercial use is allowed on the property, which was previously tagged to be part of a defunct parking garage proposal that divided residents and businesses.

Cristina Parades, who heads the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality, suspected a market analysis for Midtown reflects a target consumer medical marijuana providers want to reach.

“I do find it very interesting that there tends to be so many in that small square mile basis in that area,” she said.
