New Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar could be headed for TGI Fridays Tallahassee location

The Cajun sports bar co-owned by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is opening a Tallahassee restaurant. 

A spokeswoman for Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar confirmed a franchise location has been sold in the Tallahassee market but could offer no other details before the franchise owner made a comment. 

Public documents on the restaurant's permit application show 3390 Northeast Capital Circle as its intended location, the same address as Tallahassee's only TGI Fridays. 

On Thursday, management at TGI Fridays declined to comment on whether the restaurant was closing or relocating. The company's corporate office has not responded to inquiries from the Tallahassee Democrat. 

Walk-On's has locations throughout the Southeast, with two additional locations coming soon to Florida in Fort Lauderdale and Wesley Chapel, according to the company's website. 

"Walk-On’s is a place where over-the-top enthusiasm and culture is the daily norm. What sets us apart from all others though, is our authentic, mouthwatering Louisiana cuisine prepared fresh in a from-scratch kitchen," the site said. 

In a YouTube video, Brees raved about his first impression of a Walk-On's. He said if he ever opened his own sports bar, it would be just like it. 

"The greatest thing you can do in life is be a part of a team. It's certainly what we tried to build here at Walk-On's," he said. "The way we start our day. The way we end our day. And everything in between."

The menu is crammed with flavor-filled dishes. The Zydeco, a signature salad, has sweet chili glazed fried shrimp, candied pecans, jalapenos and maple cane vinaigrette.  Meal specials include the "Bistreaux Specialties" like cajundillas, Cajun tibeye and boom boom shrimp poboys.
