A wealth of offerings at the Tallahassee Farmers Market at Market Square.

The Tallahassee Farmers Market will move from its longtime Market Square home to a new location on Kerry Forest Parkway and Thomasville Road starting Aug. 24.

Organizers posted the location change to the market's Facebook page, adding Aug. 10 and Aug. 17 will be their last days at the Market Square location. The new location will be across from Cornerstone Church.

"Thank you for supporting local growers and producers," the post said.

Tallahassee Farmers Market is relocating to a new location at Kerry Forest Parkway and Thomasville Road.

The Farmers Market is the latest business to leave Market Square as major redevelopment takes shape on the 10-acre parcel located at Thomasville Road near I-10.

This time next year, Market Square will look nothing like it does today. Dallas-based Leon Capital Group secured anchor tenant Cinépolis Luxury Cinema, and recently closed on a deal for a new Springhill Suites by Marriott, Both plan to open next year.

Redevelopment plans call for approximately 12 to 15 national, regional and local tenants in the shopping center built in the late 1970s. In addition to the 32,000 square-foot theater, the project includes the demolition of the existing pavilion where the Farmers Market operated on Saturdays and three existing buildings at the rear of the site, permit materials said.

A handful of tenants will remain at Market Square, including Southern Seafood, Market Street Liquors and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Prime Meridian Bank is in the early stages of significant renovations to its building.
