The area's top high school and college football student-athletes were recently honored for their accolades at the Tallahassee Quarterback Club's annual Jamboree Awards Dinner.

Players and coaches convened for this celebratory event at Doak Campbell Stadium's University Club.

"This was the Super Bowl of award gifts for student-athletes and also the Bobby Bowden Coach of the Year Award," said Tallahassee Quarterback Club past president, Ken Franklin.

"We gave out 14 awards to student-athletes with academic standards who are strong young men. This is a great group of people to work with and a great charity. It's all about the kids."

Serving as the guest speaker for the dinner was veteran sportscaster Tim Brando.

"It's always good to have an opportunity to use your platform to meet a lot of student-athletes on the high school and college level," Brando said.

"It was a lot of fun getting to meet these young men and their coaches. To see how they handled their success, you learn a lot about the youth of America. It makes me feel more secure and optimistic that all isn't lost in our country. Nights like this restore that optimism for me. I get as much out of it as hopefully, they get from listening to me."
