Easter service offerings abound at Hernando County churches

Local churches are offering special Easter services and events to celebrate the most sacred of Christian holidays. Along with services at regular times on Sunday, April 21, some churches will offer services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, special family events on Holy Saturday and Easter sunrise services.

Spring Hill Baptist Church will present a musical drama, Come to Jesus, during its 6 p.m. service on Palm Sunday, April 14. A free annual Easter Eggstravaganza offers fun for the whole family including games, bounce houses, food and an age-based egg hunt with 10,000 eggs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Holy Saturday. Brooksville Wesleyan Church, 22319 Cortez Blvd., will present a cantata, It is Finished, at 6 p.m. April 14. Communion in the Garden will be served inside the church as a come-and-go event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday and a Good Friday Tenebrae service will be at 7 p.m. Call (352) 799-3066.

Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 235 Cobblestone Drive, Spring Hill, will have a guest missionary from Jerusalem at 7 p.m. Wednesday speaking on "Christ in the Passover." Other Easter services include Good Friday Service of Shadows Tenebrae at 7 p.m. and an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with breakfast following. (352) 683-0587.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2301 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, will offer a Rite One service Wednesday at 10 a.m., a Maundy Thursday service with foot washing at 7 p.m., a Good Friday service followed by Stations of the Cross at noon, and a service in Memorial Garden at 4 p.m. followed by the flowering of the cross [guests may bring flowers] and a candlelight vigil at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. On Easter, there will be age appropriate egg hunts for children of all ages at 9:30 a.m. Call (352) 683-2010.

St. John's Episcopal Church, 200 South Brooksville Ave., Brooksville, will have a Tenebrae service at 6 p.m. Thursday and a Litany of Penitence and Stations of the Cross service at noon on Good Friday. Call (352) 796-9112.

Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd., will have a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m., a Good Friday service at noon and a free Easter Festival for children ages 3 to 10 and their families with an egg hunt, stories and crafts beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Call (352) 596-0080.

Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee, will have a Maundy Thursday service with foot washing at 6:30 p.m., and experiential prayer stations from 5 to 6:15 p.m. and a Tenebrae service at 6:30 p.m. on Good Friday. Call (352) 597-1456.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1214 Broad St., Masaryktown, will have a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service. On Good Friday, there will be a service at noon and Tenebrae at 7 p.m. On Easter, there will be a sunrise service at 7:30 a.m., a potluck breakfast at 8:45 a.m. and an egg hunt for children at 9:45 a.m. Call (352) 796-4066.

Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mount Fair Ave., Brooksville, will have a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service, a 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Good Friday prayer vigil, and a 6:30 a.m. Easter sunrise service. Call (352) 796-4969.

Ridge Manor Community Methodist Church, 34350 Cortez Blvd., will have a Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. and a 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service. (352) 583-3770.

Forest Oaks Lutheran Church, 8555 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, will have a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service and a 7 p.m. Good Friday service. On Easter, there will be a 7 a.m. sunrise service in the garden with breakfast following. Call (352) 683-9731.

• Grace Presbyterian Church, 8375 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, will have a Maundy Thursday service at 7:30 p.m. and one combined service at 10 a.m. on Easter. Call (352) 683-2082.

St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, will have a Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:30 p.m. on Holy Thursday. On Good Friday will be Stations of the Cross in Spanish at 10 a.m. and in English at noon and 7:30 p.m., and the Liturgy of the Passion of the Christ at 3 p.m. On Saturday, there is an 8:15 p.m. Easter Vigil Mass. On Sunday, there is an additional 5:45 a.m. Mass. Call (352) 683-9666.

Hope Community Bible Church, 13241 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, will have a Good Friday service at 11 a.m. with combined congregations from Pristine Baptist Church, Ransom Church of God and Central Dentro de la Familia Cristiana. Call (352) 686-6020.

Salvation Army of Hernando County, 15464 Cortez Blvd., will have revival services, which includes a "youth-only" session for kids 12 to 18, beginning at 5 p.m. on Good Friday. There will be sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and an early service at 9 a.m. Easter Sunday along with its regular service at 10:30 a.m. Call (352) 796-1186.

Northcliffe Baptist Church will offer a 6 p.m. communion service on Good Friday. A Really Big Easter Party, for children age 2 through fifth grade, will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Holy Saturday. The free event will have bounce houses, indoor egg hunts, food and face painting. The church is at 10515 Northcliffe Blvd., Spring Hill. Call (352) 683-5882.

First Baptist Church of Brooksville, 420 Howell Ave., will have a Good Friday service with the Lord's Supper at 6:30 p.m. Call (352) 796-6791.

Grace World Outreach's Eggstravaganza, where 20,000 candy-filled eggs will be dropped from a helicopter from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Holy Saturday. There will be bounce houses, a petting zoo, a rock wall, many giveaway items, including bicycles, and vendors on site for food purchases. The church is at 20366 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Great Life Church, 14494 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill, will have a Spring Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Holy Saturday. The free-admission, annual event will have three egg hunts, food, local vendors, inflatables, rides, zip lines and go-carts. Call (352) 293-7673.

First Baptist Church of Spring Hill, 7279 Pinehurst Drive, will have an egg hunt on Holy Saturday at 11 a.m. for ages 2 to 10. There will be a light lunch afterward for the first 200 who register by 11. Call (352) 683-2863.

First United Methodist Church Brooksville will host an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. on the Brooksville Common, next to the church at 109 S Broad St. Call (352) 796-3363.

Christian Life Assembly of God, 13065 Jacqueline Road, Brooksville, will present a community Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. The guest speaker will be John Mitten from Chick-fil-a. Outside seating will be available, and parking is on the side of the church. Call (352) 597-1139.

Lake Lindsey United Methodist Church will host an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. on the lawn of Chinsegut Hill Manor, 22495 Chinsegut Hill Road, Brooksville. The annual event includes a free pancake breakfast at the church at 22400 Lake Lindsey Road after the service. Call (352) 777-4319.
