Leeds ready to swoop as Liverpool prepare to lose 50% on rising star’s fee

Leeds United are keen on signing Harry Wilson for around £12.5million this summer, around half of Liverpool’s valuation of the winger from last summer, according to reports.

Wilson, who was promoted from Liverpool’s academy in the summer of 2018, has yet to stamp his mark on Jurgen Klopp’s side having been sent out on two successive loans.

The Wales international is currently on the south coast with Bournemouth but it is unclear if he has a future at Anfield next term, after the emergence of Curtis Jones and the January arrival of Takumi Minamino.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are expected to listen to offers for Wilson when the transfer window re-opens.

The source claims that the Reds, who valued the 23-year-old’s permanent exit at £25million last summer, are prepared to accept half of that fee due to the financial impact of the global health crisis on football.

Leeds, who have been beaten to Wilson by Derby and then the Cherries in the past two summer windows, remain strongly determined to get their man, with Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa a big fan.

Bielsa reportedly rates Wilson as “extremely talented” and believes that the attacker can develop into a “real star”.

Wilson excelled in his time in the Championship with Derby, scoring 18 goals and assisting six others as the Rams got to the play-off final.

The winger has continued to be a regular feature for Eddie Howe at Bournemouth and he has netted six times in 27 outings for the Cherries.

However, his game time at Liverpool would likely be restricted, with Minamino expected to press on after making seven appearances since his arrival.

Jones, meanwhile, could be seen as a replacement for Adam Lallana, who is set to leave at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract.
