Rutland man killed when struck by truck in Concord

CONCORD - A Rutland man was killed Monday when he was struck by a pickup truck on the side of a road in Concord.

Wayne Moody, 75, of Rutland was killed at the intersection of Independence Road and Alcott Road at 12:22 p.m. when the truck backed up, running him over. He was taken to an area hospital where he was declared dead, according to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Moody was working on the side of the road when he was struck by the truck.

The accident remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Concord Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Enforcement Team. No charges have been filed in the case.

Mr. Moody was formerly employed by Yankee Engineering and Testing Co. of Worcester and was active in the Rutland Little League.
