Calcutta/ Guwahati: Bengaluru FC (BFC) produced a professional performance to blank Abahani Limited Dhaka 4-0 in Dhaka before outside help from Aizawl FC ensured their qualification for the Inter-Zonal semi-finals of the AFC Cup.

Daniel Segovia (13th min), Nishu Kumar (16th, 58th) and Sunil Chetri (60th) struck for BFC, who topped Group E with a resounding win and advanced in the competition.

BFC needed a win to qualify and were also relying on Aizawl FC to beat Maldives' New Radiant. Chetri led from the front as he assisted in three goals. Moments after BFC's win, Aizawl came to their rescue by defeating New Radiant 2-1.

BFC finished the group on 15 points, New Radiant 12 and four points apiece for Abahani and Aizawl.

BFC were always in control of the game and led 2-0 at half time courtesy goals from Segovia and Kumar.

BFC had 55 percent ball possession with 11 of their 16 shots on target. Abahani only entered the striking area five times and had just one shot on target. The outcome was on expected lines but with qualification on the line, BFC had to deal with pressure.

In Guwahati, Aizawl FC finally tasted victory handing a 2-1 defeat to New Radiant SC, Maldives.

All the goals came in the second half. Aizawl got the breakthrough through Ivorian forward Leonce Dodoz who slotted the ball home off a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Referee Sultan Abdul Razzaq Almarzooqi awarded a spot-kick to Santosh Kashyap's men in red after New Radiant custodian Mohamed Imran brought down Romanian Andrei Ionescu.

The second goal came in the 80th minute. Ionescu got a through pass and dribbled past an onrushing goalkeeper Imran. New Radiant manager Oscar Bruzon's second substitution of Riham Abdul Ghanee with Ibrahim Atheeg Hassan in the 83rd minute proved fruitful as the latter reduced the margin with a lob over onrushing Aizawl goalkeeper Avilash Paul.
