Temple tableau steals show at Ranchi parade

18 tableaux on various themes were in the competition

A tableau modelled on the Ram Temple of Chutia made by the state information and public relations department (IRPD) was adjudged the winner during the 70th Republic Day celebrations at Morabadi grounds on Saturday.

As many as 18 tableaux on various themes had rolled out to mark the occasion.

The tableau presented by the higher education and skill development department and another one by Mukhyamantri Small and Cottage Industries Board came second and third, respectively.

Ram Temple in Chutia, which was established in 1687, holds significance as it is said to have been visited by noted saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and tribal icon Birsa Munda.

Among the other tableaux that were talked about were the one made by state women and child development department highlighting protection of girl child and another depicting how fish can help fight malnutrition presented by the state forest department.

Several health and wellness centres were highlighted in the tableau by the state family welfare department. Youths representing different professions were presented at the tableau by the state urban development department.

“I liked Izzat Ghar, a coinage for a washroom, in the tableau made by drinking water and sanitation department, to promote the use of toilets,” said Baleshwar Gupta, a Ratu Road resident.

Sukesh Manjhi, a BSc student of Gossner College in Ranchi, was happy to see the tableau on digital education presented by school education and literacy department.

“I realised the importance of digital education and also understood how biometric attendance system and being computer savvy are important nowadays,” said Sukesh.

Flag hoisting at HC

Chief justice Anirudha Bose hoisted the national flag on the campus of Jharkhand High Court in the presence of judges and lawyers on Saturday. Republic Day programmes were also held in all government offices, schools and colleges, Ranchi Municipal Corporation ward councillor offices and other public places.
