Prism charts Aizawl growth

The People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (Prism), a newly floated political party, said it would expand Aizawl to make the capital free from traffic snarls.

Aizawl: The People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (Prism), a newly floated political party, said it would expand Aizawl to make the capital free from traffic snarls.

Releasing the party manifesto exclusively for Aizawl city on Saturday, Prism president Vanlalruata said the party would make effort to extend road between Zemabawk, the north-eastern most of Aizawl and Kulikawn, the southern most of the capital and it would establish parking lots to ease traffic snarls in the town.

The party in its manifesto said more autonomy would be accorded to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation and it would establish real estate and housing corporation which would be tasked with expanding the town.

The manifesto also stated that a road connecting south Aizawl with railway station at Sairang, about 21km from here, will be constructed and a trip-meter will be fixed in all public transports.

Besides, terminals will be constructed at all important stops such as Zemabawk, Hlimen, Lawipu, Sairang and Sihphir.

Vanlalruata said the party would employ watchmen who would keep vigil to avoid drowning in the Tlawng river at Sairang and near Reiek villages. He said a mortuary and crematory would be constructed within the town.

The president said families, who are residing at landslide-prone or vulnerable areas would be shifted to new settlements. He said all water sources would be exploited for uninterrupted supply to every household in the city.

Vanlalruata said the Assam Rifles will be relocated from the heart of Aizawl to the outskirts and proper building regulation will be introduced.
