Emmy Squared is bringing its Detroit-style pizza and craveable burgers to Green Hills.

The Brooklyn-based restaurant with an outpost in the Gulch plans to take over the Table 3 Restaurant space at 3821 Green Hills Village Drive in Green Hills.

Table 3 Restaurant, a French bistro owned by Wendy Burch and Elise Loehr, will close after dinner service on April 27 after nine years, according to a post on Table 3’s Instagram. The adjacent wine market will remain open.

“We will cherish all the amazing friendships and memories that we created together over the last decade. Thank you for your support!” the post says.

Emmy Squared opened at 404 12th Ave. S. in the Gulch about one year. The restaurant serves square pizzas with stripes of sauce added post-baking (known as Detroit-style pizza), small plates, sandwiches and the Le Big Matt burger, which is a double-stack of Bear Creek Farms beef patties topped with American cheese, greens, pickles and sauce.

Detroit-style pizza has swept the nation in recent years, expanding beyond Michigan's borders to New York, Texas, Tennessee and beyond.

“One of the key features we love is it has sauce on top, instead of under the cheese, and there’s no visible crust so the cheese goes all the way to the crust and caramelizes along the pan,” Emmy Squared co-owner and chef Matt Hyland told The Tennessean last year.

Hyland and his wife, Emily, are the duo behind the Pizza Loves Emily family of restaurants in New York, which includes popular wood-fired pizza restaurant Emily, in addition to Emmy Squared.
