Michelle Obama making stop in Nashville for book tour

Michelle Obama is coming to Nashville to make a stop on her book tour.

The former United States first lady is slated to appear at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville on May 12.

Tickets start at $99.50 and go on sale Friday.

Her book "Becoming" is an autobiographical memoir published late this year.

Crown Publishing told The Associated Press that the former first lady's memoir sold more than 1.4 million copies in print and digital formats in the U.S. and Canada in the seven days since it was released Nov. 13.

Based on demand from retailers across all channels, the publisher has printed 3 million hardcover copies in North America. On its first day, the book sold more than 725,000 copies, making it one of the year's biggest debuts.

Reviews of the book, which traces Obama's journey from Chicago's South Side to the White House, have been positive, with The Washington Post praising its "impressive balance in telling the truth of her challenges while repeatedly acknowledging her lucky life."

In "Becoming," Obama writes about her fertility issues, including a miscarriage and revealing that her daughters Malia and Sasha were born through IVF. 

“I felt like I failed, because I didn't know how common miscarriages were because we don't talk about them,” Obama, 54, told ABC News anchor Robin Roberts during a TV special. 

 “We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken. So, that's one of the reasons why I think it's important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen, and the biological clock is real.”

Obama also detailed the early days of her relationship with her husband former President Barack Obama. 

“As soon as I allowed myself to feel anything for Barack,” Michelle Obama writes in her book, “the feelings came rushing -- a toppling blast of lust, gratitude, fulfillment, wonder.”

The former occupants of the White House who have been married since 1992 have a union that has benefited from therapy. 

The pages of "Becoming" also include heavy criticism for President Donald Trump. Michelle Obama specifically rips him for his behavior toward women.

She denounces him over the infamous 2005 "Access Hollywood" tape, which was released weeks before the 2016 election, in which he bragged about sexually assaulting women.

She also criticizes him for his debate behavior toward 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and writes she'll "never forgive" Trump for his role in the "birther" movement.
