Temperatures in Middle Tennessee are expected to climb as high as 95 degrees Saturday, and it will only get hotter from there.

National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Reagan said searing heat during the work week will make Saturday feel like a respite.

"Unfortunately as we go through tomorrow and then especially as we go into early next week — Monday, Tuesday — the humidity will continue to build," Reagan said.

Highs will stay in the mid to high 90s through Wednesday, and the heat index could climb to more than 100 degrees.

Reagan said the heat was "on par" with normal weather patterns of summer in Nashville.

"Hopefully we can just make it to September," he said.
