Nashville police issue murder warrant for Connecticut man in fatal armed robbery in West Nashville

An apparent armed robbery in a home off West End Avenue killed one and left another critically injured on Friday. 

Donald Zirkle, 59, and Leigh Ann Zirkle, 58, were stabbed outside their home in the 200 block of Cherokee Road after a man approached them, MNPD reported. 

Donald Zirkle died after being transported to the hospital, MNPD confirmed. Leigh Ann Zirkle remained under treatment Friday evening, and was able to communicate with detectives. 

Arrest warrants for murder and attempted murder have been issued for Peter Alexander Bohning, 34, of Kent, Connecticut, in the case. His car was found parked outside the house with its doors left open and showing front-end damage.

His Connecticut family had not spoken with him for several days, MNPD reported. 

Bohning may be travelling in the Zirkles' missing 2010 Gray Toyota Camry with Tennessee license plate NP5937.

Suspect approached couple, then attacked

Police are also searching for information on a silver Subaru with front-end damage and Connecticut plates parked near the house, which may have been left there in connection to the robbery.

A man walked up to the couple on their back porch, said he was lost and then attacked them, the preliminary investigation revealed.

After being injured, Leigh Ann Zirkle ran into the house and out onto the street through the front door before collapsing, MNPD reported. 

The home on Cherokee Road sits in the Cherokee Park neighborhood, just off West End Avenue, near McCabe Golf Course and Sylvan Park.
