Police arrested a man Friday morning who was accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend.

Officers had been looking for Brandon Horton, 30, since the Thursday afternoon shooting death of Temptress Peebles, 30, outside her home in the 2200 block of Morena Street in North Nashville.

Metro Nashville Police Department detectives arrested Horton at River Retreat Apartments in Madison, the department said on Twitter.

Witnesses told police that the two were arguing outside when Horton opened fire on Peebles, a news release from MNPD said. Peebles' 8-year-old daughter was present during the shooting and ran to a neighbor's house.

Horton was also wanted on outstanding warrants stemming from an incident on Oct. 6 where he allegedly attacked Peebles, threw her on the ground, punched her in the face and stole her purse. In July, Horton was accused of kicking in the door of Peebles' home and pointing a gun at her, the release said.

He was previously convicted of facilitating second-degree murder in 2012, court records show, linked to a 2011 killing of a Nashville man who was shot several times at Noah's Landing Apartments.

Horton is currently jailed in lieu of a $1.33 million bail. He was arrested without incident after exiting an apartment building Friday. He refused to answer questions before going to jail, according to police.
