Trio charged with first-degree homicide in weekend Springfield killing

A man is dead and three people were in police custody on homicide charges Monday morning following a weekend homicide in Springfield, authorities said.

According to Springfield Police Department Chief Jason Head, the killing was reported Sunday morning on Woodland Street.

Police have not yet released the victim's identity or announced a motive in the slaying.

Shortly after the killing, police arrested Jose Ernesto Perez, 19, and charged with him first-degree murder in connection with the killing. He was transported to the Robertson County Detention Facility where he remained held without bond on Monday

Early Monday morning two other suspects in the case — 21-year-old Jose Eduardo Perez and 24-year-old Erick Ortego Ramos Pioquinto, both of Springfield, were also arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Both were being jailed without bond in Robertson County on Monday.
