Correction: Police originally provided the wrong name for one of the children. It has been corrected.

A 28-year-old woman is facing felony charges, including vehicular homicide, after Metro Nashville police say she hit two neighborhood children with her car, killing one, on Sunday.

The crash took place about 8 p.m. in a parking lot at Overlook Ridge Apartments in the 2400 block of Buena Vista Pike, police reported.

The preliminary investigation shows that 9-year-old Chrishon Montgomery and a 7-year-old boy were crossing the back of the parking lot, Chrishon on a bike and the younger child walking near him, when Ebony Lin Robinson backed her 2005 Acura MDX out of a parking space at a high rate of speed, striking both children.

Police said Chrishon was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died. The 7-year-old boy was driven to Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both boys and Robinson lived in separate apartments at the complex.

According to an arrest affidavit, an officer who responded to the crash said he smelled alcohol on Robinson's breath. When the officer asked her if she'd been drinking, she reportedly said, "Yeah, I've had a few." When she was asked to clarify how much she had to drink, police said she became more reserved and said she'd had only "a sip."

Police said when Robinson granted officers consent to search her vehicle, they found a cup in the center console of her car smelling heavily of tequila.

Police said Robinson failed at least one sobriety test at the scene. Before an officer could issue additional field sobriety tests, the affidavit continues, Robinson became verbally combative with bystanders at the complex and had to be restrained.

When officers attempted to handcuff Robinson, they said she refused to put her hands behind her back and had to be taken to the ground to be cuffed.

She was then arrested. In addition to vehicular homicide, Robinson was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, driving without a license and resisting arrest, Davidson County court records show.

Police said a search warrant was obtained for a mandatory blood sample from Robinson for analysis.

Davidson County Sheriff's Office records show she was booked into jail at 11:15 p.m. and remained jailed on $203,000 bond on Monday morning.
