Everything you need to know about Nashville's Fourth of July concert and fireworks display

Nashville's Fourth of July downtown fireworks show typically ranks among the largest in the country, and this year is slated to be no different. 

More than 62,000 shells will make up the 30-minute "Let Freedom Sing!" show along the Cumberland River. That's more than 36,000 pounds of explosives and 150 miles of wire, according to organizers. 

This year's headliner is Brett Eldredge. The Nashville Symphony will return to close out the day by accompanying the fireworks show.

Last year an estimated 250,000 people attended the annual Independence Day event. Here's everything you need to know to plan your holiday:

When and where

The event is free, open to the public, and starts at 12 p.m. July Fourth. It will take place throughout downtown. Attendees can come and go as they please.

The lineup

Here is a schedule of what is going on July 3-4.

JULY 3

Music City Walk of Fame

12-5 p.m.: Family Fun Zone with activities and DJ Robert Luke (giveaways and other activities will last into the evening)

Main show at Ascend Amphitheater (gates open at 3 p.m.)

4-4:45 p.m.: Bizz & Everyday People

5-6 p.m.: The Whigs

6:15-7:15 p.m.: Alejandro Aranda performing as Scarypoolparty

Nissan Stadium

8 p.m.: Gold Cup semifinal soccer match, followed by a five-minute fireworks show

JULY 4

Music City Walk of Fame Park

12-5 p.m.: Family Fun Zone with activities and DJ Robert Luke (giveaways and other activities will last into the evening)

Main show at Broadway Stage at Fifth Avenue and Broadway

Video screens will be placed at Riverfront Park and at The Green at Riverfront Park, as well as on the Broadway stage and at Ascend Amphitheater.

Parking and other transportation

Parking will be available at Nissan Stadium for $10. The lots that will be open are:

8 a.m.: Lots E, D and P 

2 p.m.: Lots A, B, C and F

RV parking is in Lot P for $40

Spots will also be available at:

Metro Courthouse Garage for $15 all day

Nashville Public Library Downtown for $14 ($10 after 5 p.m.)

Music City Center for $15

There will be a taxi drop-off and pickup on Seventh Avenue South at Broadway.

Check road closures and other downtown parking.

Rain plan

According to visitmusiccity.com: "We will be watching the weather very closely and will make decisions accordingly to keep our guests safe. This website will be updated as necessary, and we will be offering up-to-the-minute information via social media."

Food and drink

Food vendors will be along First Avenue from Church Street to the pedestrian bridge and in Music City Walk of Fame Park. Food trucks will be on First Avenue near the pedestrian bridge, on Second Avenue North and South, on Broadway, on Fourth Avenue South and near Music City Walk of Fame Park on Fifth Avenue. Concessions will be at Ascend Amphitheater.

What you can and can't bring

Permitted items include:

Collapsible chairs (except at Ascend Amphitheater), until 4 p.m.

Handheld, personal-sized umbrellas (up to 36 inches), until 4 p.m.

Blankets and ground tarps (6 feet by 8 feet or less)

Small bags with a maximum measurement of 16 inches by 10 inches by 4 inches

Personal cameras

Prohibited items include:

Weapons, coolers, outside alcoholic beverages, fireworks, pets (except for service animals), drones, audio recorders and video cameras

TV, streaming plans

If you cannot attend the event, the fireworks show will be livestreamed. It will also be broadcast on CMT.
