Fairview High School is home to a wide variety of talented athletes.  This year we have seen a number of those students sign with prestigious colleges across the country.

Hiller Gray, age 18, is the son of Stephanie and Aaron Gray, grandson of Linda and Jim Derrick, and brother to Frances, Aaron, and Ellis Gray.  Hiller has lived in Fairview for six years and has played football for the last four years under Coach Chris Hughes.

“Hiller has been a big part of what we are doing here with our Fairview football program for the last four years.  He has been a great leader and the Team Captain.  All of the things he has done for me and this football program, I could never repay him,” stated Coach Hughes as the signing event got underway on April 26, 2019.

Gray wore jersey number 68 and played defensive end and center on the Fairview High Yellow Jackets team. He was also a member of the Jackets Wrestling Team.  He credits FHS football line coach, Coach Jackson with helping him to become the player he is today.

Hiller was named the Region 6 AAA 2018 Super Region Team Most Valuable Offensive Lineman.  Hiller and teammate Kam Harris-Lusk were recently named by the Tennessee Football Coaches Association to the TnFCA 3A All State Team and the The Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) 3A All State Team. The duo also had the opportunity to compete in the 2018 Toyota East vs. West Tennessee All-Star Classic on Dec. 7, 2018.

Gray was scouted by a number of colleges and universities including Tusculum, Lindsey Culver, Stockton University, Aurora University, and Bethel.

Hiller ultimately decided to sign with University of Tennessee at Martin, stating “it is close to home, and they have a great football program.”

Hiller intends to major in Business.  He will be playing football for Coach Jason Simpson.

“I am so excited to be able to pursue my dream.  I have wanted this since I was five years old,” said Gray.
