Bush receives Fairview’s first perfect ACT score

For the first time in its history, Fairview High School has a student who achieved a perfect score on his ACT test.  Alex Bush, a senior at Fairview High, recently discovered that he is among a small group of students (only 5,000 across the nation) who scored a 36 on the test, and Fairview High School could not be prouder of his accomplishments.

Alex Bush scored perfect ACT score, first in Fairview High's history.

Alex began preparing for the ACT by taking the PSAT test, a standardized test that prepared him for the types of questions he would see on the ACT.  He used his feedback from the PSAT to prepare for the ACT.

In preparation for the test, Alex watched videos on the English and Reading portions of the test so he could see someone else work through the problems.  In addition, he focused on practice math questions from the ACT site to learn the format of the test and to practice specific math questions.

One thing that definitely helped Alex achieve his perfect score is that he doesn’t get stressed out about standardized testing.  He reported that he was “perfectly calm” during the test, a strategy that definitely worked to his benefit.

Alex is active in Fairview’s theatre classes, is enrolled in AP Art Studio, and loves to play video games and cosplay.   He would like to attend Stanford University in the fall.  He attended a high school summer college program this past summer for two months.  Before attending the program, he planned to attend MIT, but found that Stanford felt more like home.

“It was the best time of my life, and I felt really comfortable there,” he reports.

Fairview High School students, faculty and staff, along with community members, congratulate Alex on this distinguished accomplishment!
