Lakeview Elementary in Wilson County closes Thursday for water main break

Lakeview Elementary will reopen Friday after the school was closed Thursday because of a water main break on Saundersville Road in front of the school.

The leak required shutting off water at the school and at about eight homes, according to Michael Clay of the West Wilson Utility District.

All school activities were closed including the district's Kids Club program.

Repairs were expected to be finished and water back on late morning or early afternoon on Thursday.

The district confirmed classes will be held Friday at Lakeview as scheduled.

No damage was reported to school property, Clay said.

The reason for the water break wasn't immediately known, but colder temperatures and ground that shifts can be a cause, Clay said.

The water main break was reported roughly around 4:30 a.m., which the utility district reported to Wilson County Schools personnel, Clay said.
