Nashville's MLS team is taking another step toward its inaugural 2020 season.

The team will make a major announcement at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Marathon Music Works. The club is expected to announce its team name, logo and color scheme for its first season next year.

The event Wednesday is open to the public, although attendees must RSVP through the club's Eventbrite posting, which can be found on the NashvilleSC.com website. The venue holds fewer than 2,000 people.

Music, drinks and other entertainment will be provided during the announcement event. Fox Sports reporter Sara Walsh will host.

Nashville MLS team will play in Nissan Stadium in 2020

MLS awarded Nashville an expansion club in December 2017. The team will be playing its 2020 home games at Nissan Stadium, and is expected to move to its own stadium at the Fairgrounds by 2021.

The Nashville Soccer Club team that plays in the USL will play NYCFC in a preseason friendly at 7 p.m. Friday at First Tennessee Park.

In 2018, Nashville hosted Atlanta United in a preseason friendly and lost 3-1.
