RENFREWSHIRE is set to receive more than £1.4million as part of a new Scottish Government fund to help boost town centres.
But one local councillor is demanding the area receives a bigger share of the pie to help breathe new life into the likes of Johnstone and Renfrew.
The payout has been earmarked from the £50m Town Centre Fund, which has been set up in partnership with local authority umbrella organisation Cosla.

However, Indepedent Councillor Andy Doig has written to the Scottish Government calling for more money to be set aside for Renfrewshire after it emerged Glasgow City and the City of Edinburgh councils are to receive more from the fund.
The capital is in line for a major £2,613,000 boost while nearby Glasgow is to get £3,010,000.
Cllr Doig told The Gazette: “Our great cities like Glasgow are drivers of the regional economy in the West of Scotland, and yes, they deserve their share of the cake.

“But since when has Glasgow been a town centre? It is an outstanding international city, and its dedicated funds should not be stolen from my constituents in Johnstone but given their own regeneration funds from another budget.”
A Scottish Government spokesperson said they were committed to supporting town centres and added: “The distribution across local authorities was agreed jointly by Scottish Government and COSLA leaders.”
