Westminster Christian Academy graduation ceremonies take place. The school has announced a Lafayette expansion.

Westminster Christian Academy will open a second upper school in Lafayette in the upcoming school year.

The new school will be for students in seventh through 12th grades.

Currently, Westminster’s Lafayette campus is for K3 to sixth grades. The Opelousas campus is for K3 to 12th grades.

“God has already plowed the ground for us to take the mission, vision and expertise that have defined Westminster for the last forty years and apply them to a whole new student age group in Lafayette,” the school posted on its official Facebook page Tuesday morning.

School officials and board members will host community meetings this week to share more details with parents and interested stakeholders. The Lafayette campus meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Opelousas campus meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday.

“I think in Opelousas we’re going to see growth and we’re going to see new opportunities that we can’t even envision today, and I think with this new initiative in Lafayette, we’re going to be able to expand and touch more lives and touch more families,” said Westminster parent and board treasurer Josh Proffitt in a school-produced video.
