A Baton Rouge man was killed in a crash on Airline Highway on Friday afternoon.

The crash took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. on the US Highway 190 bridge in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to State Police spokesperson Trooper Taylor Scrantz.

50-year-old Michael Thompson was traveling on the bridge in his Chevrolet S10 when he exited the roadway and struck the bridge rail for reasons that are still under investigation.

Thompson was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle on impact, Scrantz said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A toxicology sample was taken for analysis. Scrantz said the crash remains under investigation.
