BURLY rugby players will complete a gruelling 500 mile bike ride to raise money to send a team to Canada.

Brighton and Hove Sea Serpents will take on the challenge on static bikes at the Amsterdam Bar on the seafront at noon on Sunday.

The club is the county’s only gay and inclusive rugby club, and players recently returned from a tournament in Dublin.

But now they are raising money to allow the club to send a team to compete in the Bingham Cup in Ottawa, Canada, next year.

Some of the prizes on offer with the raffle include a voucher for lunch at The Grand hotel, and tickets for Boeing Boeing at the Theatre Royal.

Treasurer Damian Giles said: “The standard of our rugby has increased tremendously in such a short space of time.”

He said the club has earned promotion in Sussex next season, and said the club is also looking for sponsors ahead of the international tournament.
