SHORTLY before “lockdown” we spent a pleasant few days in Salisbury (and yes we visited the famous cathedral with its 400ft spire).
We discovered that Salisbury has not one, not two, not three but four park and ride schemes.
The population of Salisbury at the 2011 census was 44,748 while Brighton and Hove was 273,369.
That means Brighton is six times the size of Salisbury.
Add to that, that Brighton and Hove City Council makes the highest profit on parking outside London.
Why can’t we have one proper park and ride?
I don’t count driving into the middle of a housing state to park in a leisure centre car park.
A proper coach station/transport hub would be nice to replace the disgraceful Pool Valley.
Not everyone is young enough or fit enough to cycle.
