ValleyPBS has announced that Fresno will be one of a 30-city national tour with Ken Burns, Dayton Duncan and Julie Dunfrey for their upcoming documentary, “Country Music.”

The Roadshow national tour will precede the broadcast with the intent to spark a conversation about the American art form and those who created it, going into the history, defining features and important performers and players in the country music genre. This will also mark Burns’ first public appearance in the Central Valley, according to a news release.

“At the heart of every great country music song is a story,” Burns said. “The common experiences and human emotions speak to each of us about love and loss, about hard times and the chance of redemption. As an art form, country music is also forever revisiting its history, sharing and updating old classics and celebrating its roots, which are, in many ways, foundational to our country itself.”

The Roadshow will be held on July 25 at the Saroyan Theatre, with a Q&A follow up after the documentary. Tickets ($50 and $65) can be purchased at Ticketmaster website.
